A Look At 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG Coupe

The CLK DTM AMG coupé stands out as one of the rarest and most coveted models from Mercedes-Benz, with just 100 units manufactured. This model, crafted by AMG, the performance arm of Mercedes-Benz, draws inspiration from the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) racing series.

Built upon the second-generation C209 CLK that debuted in 2002, the vehicle is equipped with height-adjustable suspension, reinforced suspension bushes, and AMG composite brakes. It can go from 0-100 km/h in an impressive 3.9 seconds and achieves a maximum speed of 320 km/h.

The design of the CLK DTM AMG closely resembles the race car that Bernd Schneider piloted to win the 2003 DTM championship, featuring elements such as an aggressive front apron, wide wheel arches, and a prominent rear wing. The construction of both the body and interior incorporates extensive carbon fiber usage, while the two-seat cabin is designed with lightweight bucket seats, a digital rev counter, and AMG branding, omitting rear seats altogether.

In contrast to the racing model, which featured a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter V8 engine yielding less than 500 horsepower, the street version is equipped with a supercharged 5.4-liter engine that produces 582 horsepower. This positions it as the most robust variant within the CLK lineup, complemented by a five-speed semi-automatic transmission managed through paddle shifters located on the steering wheel.
