Toyota has unveiled the new 2024 Tacoma, which is a significant upgrade over its predecessor, with improvements that will keep it ahead of its midsize truck competitors.
The previous generation Tacoma had a dated interior and underwhelming engine, but it continued to lead the segment. The 2024 Tacoma moves to a new platform, which is shared with the larger Tundra, and features a boxed frame from end to end. There are also upgrades to the suspension and disc brakes at all four wheels to improve stopping power. The exterior now looks even more rugged than before, making it one of the best-looking trucks in the segment.
Under the hood, the previous engines have been replaced with two versions of the same turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, offering improved performance and efficiency. The new engine and platform bring significant improvements to how the Tacoma feels on the road, with more torque and a smoother ride.
The 2024 Tacoma also sees improvements in its ride and handling, with a stiffer chassis and new suspension that provides a smoother ride. Different trim levels offer unique shocks for specific capabilities, such as off-road driving.
Inside, the seating position is higher for improved comfort, while the dashboard has a more modern design. The infotainment system has been upgraded and now includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Tacoma also gets the latest version of the Toyota Safety Sense driver assistance systems.
Pricing for the 2024 Tacoma starts at $32,995 for the base model, with prices varying depending on the trim level and features.
Overall, the 2024 Toyota Tacoma is a significant improvement over its predecessor, with a more competitive powertrain, improved ride and handling, and an upgraded interior.
