The 2025 Cadillac Optiq compact crossover marks the latest addition to Cadillac’s expanding electric vehicle lineup, effectively taking the place of the XT4 in the brand’s hierarchy. This model is crucial for Cadillac as it seeks to attract consumers who are increasingly drawn to crossovers and electric vehicles.
The Optiq shares its foundational layout, including the wheelbase, with its sibling, the Chevrolet Equinox EV, and is approximately 7 inches shorter and 3 inches narrower than the Lyriq.
Design-wise, the 2025 Cadillac Optiq resembles a smaller Lyriq infused with elements from the Escalade IQ. The front features the brand’s signature crystal black “grille,” integrated with LED lighting and an illuminated Cadillac emblem at its center.

The rear of the Optiq showcases the most significant influence from the Escalade IQ, highlighted by split taillights that echo those of its larger counterpart. A unique design detail is present at the rearmost side windows, which display etched lines extending into the brake light patterns—an intriguing design choice.
All models include standard 20” wheels, while buyers opting for higher trims have the option to select upgraded 21” wheels available in two distinctive designs.
Cadillac introduced a fresh interior design concept with its inaugural EV, the Lyriq. This included entirely new switchgear, a sweeping 33” LED display, and enhanced materials and craftsmanship. The Optiq carries over these features, presenting a cabin that feels distinctly upscale.

Although it may seem overwhelming, the color scheme comes together well in person, inspired by Santorini’s white buildings and blue waters. It’s refreshing to witness such vibrant color usage in a luxury vehicle, setting Cadillac apart from the more common black and gray interiors. The Optiq operates on software that is largely similar to that of the Lyriq, with specific modifications made for this model. While the system generally performs adequately, it lacks the intuitiveness and visual appeal found in systems from competitors that prioritize software, often requiring users to navigate multiple menus for various functions. Unfortunately, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not included, presenting a drawback for users who rely on these platforms, as Cadillac’s built-in software does not support apps like Apple Music and Podcasts. Additionally, a companion mobile app has been reported to be slow to respond and lacks essential features, such as indicating if the vehicle is currently locked or unlocked.
Despite the software concerns, the interior of the Optiq is a visually stimulating and luxurious environment. Its distinctive colors and textures provide a refreshing identity within a competitive market, enhancing its appeal.
This latest series of Cadillacs, with their sleek and sporty aesthetics, harkens back to the signature smooth, luxurious ride synonymous with the brand’s history, and the Optiq is no exception. This model offers a notably soft and composed ride, especially given its shorter wheelbase. It glides effortlessly over most imperfections in the road surface, with only the most noticeable bumps being felt. Compared to the Lyriq, the Optiq presents a slightly firmer ride, aligning with its more compact and youthful target market. Nevertheless, it retains the Cadillac hallmark of comfort.
All variants of the 2025 Optiq come equipped with dual-motor all-wheel drive as standard. This arrangement produces an even 300 horsepower, enabling a respectable 0-60 mph time of 5.9 seconds. While it doesn’t promise exhilarating acceleration, the throttle response has been calibrated to provide a smooth wave of power, steering clear of the more abrupt acceleration common in numerous other electric vehicles.
All Optiq models are powered by an 85 kWh battery pack, delivering an EPA-estimated range of 300 miles. In practice, the Optiq seems to exceed this estimate by approximately 10 miles, although actual performance will vary based on driving conditions and habits. Charging capabilities peak at a slightly competitive 150 kW, allowing drivers to regain around 80 miles of charge in just 10 minutes at a sufficiently powerful DC fast charging station. For those charging at home, the slower charging speeds may not pose significant issues.
Starting at $54,390, which includes a $1,495 destination fee, the 2025 Cadillac Optiq offers a compelling value proposition. Standard features are abundant, with every Optiq equipped with amenities like a rearview mirror camera system, glass roof, customizable ambient lighting, heated steering wheel, a premium AKG audio system featuring Dolby Atmos, and GM’s advanced Super Cruise hands-free driving system—an inclusion that is notably absent from the pricier Lyriq.
The 2025 Cadillac Optiq is offered in Luxury 1 and Sport 1 trims, both of which come with nearly identical standard features. The Sport variant adds dark-colored accents and a different grille design, resulting in a price increase of roughly $500 compared to the Luxury trim.
