Renowned for their opulent SUV lineup, Lexus has finally addressed a crucial family need with the 2024 Lexus TX—an elegantly crafted large SUV that doesn’t just promise, but delivers a third row with ample room for adults too.

The TX is more than just a stretch of an existing model, like the less spacious RX L was—it is a unique entity that draws from the framework of the Toyota Grand Highlander. However, the TX takes it up a notch with its eye-catching features and a bold grille that seamlessly blends with the sophisticated aesthetic of the Lexus family, presenting an appealing choice for those who seek sumptuousness in a family vehicle.

Step inside the Lexus TX and find yourself surrounded by a beautifully crafted dashboard and materials of exquisite quality that outshine its Toyota sibling. Boasting a vast 14-inch infotainment screen and an impressive 12.3-inch digital display, the vehicle’s tech feels fresh and futuristic. The TX 550h+, in particular, wows with luxurious semi-aniline seats. The front and middle rows provide generous space for a relaxing journey, while the third row stands out as genuinely accommodating for adults, making it a cut above the rest when it comes to interior space.

The robust TX 500h F Sport is equipped with a turbocharged 2.4-liter hybrid system that churns out a powerful 366 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. This is paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox and a potent 64-kW motor, complemented by a 76-kW rear motor to enable all-wheel drive. Adding to its agility is rear steering, giving this sizable SUV a dynamic edge. The TX 500h can sprint from 0-60 mph in a brisk 6.1 seconds whilst offering fuel economy at an impressive 27 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway, and 27 mpg combined.

Those seeking an even greener ride might gravitate towards the TX 500h+ plug-in hybrid variant.

The TX 500h+ is noteworthy for its potent plug-in hybrid system, which combines a 3.5-liter V6 engine with two electric motors to pump out 404 horsepower. The bright side is, with an electric range of 33 miles, it’s perfectly suited for short commutes or school runs. While the TX 500h+ gains a power advantage over its non-plug-in counterpart, the driving experience stays largely consistent owing to the added weight of the hybrid components. It achieves a 29 mpg combined rating and can reach full charge in roughly three hours with a 240-volt outlet.

When driving the TX 500h, you are met with a responsiveness and zest that might surprise those accustomed to the typically placid nature of family SUVs. With its dual electric motors, the TX 500h offers immediate acceleration and infuses some enthusiasm into daily errands and commutes.

The 2024 Lexus 500h F Sport carries a starting price tag of $69,350, climbing to $78,050 for the plug-in hybrid TX 500h+ model.

Wrapping up, the 2024 Lexus TX 500h represents the pinnacle of family-centered luxury, effortlessly blending supremely stylish looks, exhilarating performance, and the everyday practicality that families crave. Its capacious and sumptuous interior, combined with its hybrid capabilities and alluring design, elevates it to the top of the list for those in search of a versatile and elegant three-row SUV.
