Fresh off my week with the 2024 KIA Telluride SX-Prestige X-Pro V6 AWD. Named after one of my favorite places on earth, Telluride CO., a beautiful but hard to get to town nestled between 14,000 foot peaks. The Telluride has style, a lot of technology, the interior space and the way it drives. I can see why it is one of the top selling Mid Size 3 row SUV’s on the market today.
It certainly has made the competition step up their game as well. Especially Honda with the Pilot. The Telluride is truly unique and has its own style and KIA continues to build on its 2023 redesign and upgrades.
Let’s take a deeper look and see why the KIA Telluride was named “Best 3-Row SUV for Families” for the fourth consecutive year by U.S.News and World Report.
Exterior:
The exterior design of the Telluride SX-Prestige X-Pro is a combination of sophistication with ruggedness. My Test vehicle was in the exterior color Wolf Grey. I think KIA has done an amazing job with creating unique and striking colors overall and the Wolf Grey looks great with the SX Prestige trim.
The striking lines and carefully crafted details give the Telluride a bold look. The addition of distinctive elements, such as the bold grille and the LED lighting contribute to an overall aesthetic that stands out in its class. I love the Sharp Boxy Lines and the Tiger Nose Grille which was part of the 2023 redesign. The lighting on the front end looks great and has some good functionality like the double row of LED fog lights. The Telluride is a beauty but also looks strong and ready for adventure.

Interior:
Inside the Telluride is where you find a great blend of comfort, technology and a well designed and apportioned cabin. The first thing I noticed was the Dual 12.3 Screen Panoramic Display. The functionality and user interface is on point. One thing that makes parking and everything easier is the different camera angles you can select. You also have the really cool ambiance features which allow for various mood lighting and settings. Speaking of mood, the Harman/Kardon Premium Audio System sounds amazing and KIA really goes all out on interior comforts and technology. The USB/ USB-C outlets and charging station are convenient and easy to reach. The center console is spacious and plenty of room for storage.
The Telluride is spacious and has generous legroom for passengers, especially in the 3rd row. The second row Captain’s chairs are really comfortable and the 3rd row is easy to fold down for extra space with just the touch of a button. I am surprised how easy it is to access the 3rd row and also how comfortable it is for taller passengers.
The interior design in the Prestige trim is luxurious, functional and provides a comfortable drive for the entire family.
Engine and Transmission:
The Telluride SX-Prestige X-Pro is equipped with a robust 3.8L Naturally Aspirated V6 engine that delivers a good amount of power and efficiency. . The transmission system seamlessly complements the engine’s performance, providing smooth shifts and responsive acceleration.You have the selectable drive modes to choose for more throttle response (Sport) or range from your tank (Eco). There’s a Comfort mode to split the difference, a Smart mode that does the thinking for you, and a Snow mode as well. This powertrain configuration delivers an enjoyable driving experience and also caters to the practical needs of a versatile SUV.
Driver Experience:
The Telluride is an easy to drive SUV that has a good turning radius and really easy to park and get in and out of places. If you want to venture off road a bit as we did, the Telluride X-Pro performs well and although we didn’t do anything extreme, it is capable of handling different terrains. It provides a comfortable ride for passengers as well.
Safety Features:
One of the biggest reasons the KIA Telluride appeals to families is because of it’s suite of Safety Features aimed at protecting both driver and passengers. From advanced driver-assistance systems to robust structural design, KIA has prioritized safety. The inclusion of technologies such as pre-collision systems, lane-keeping assistance, and adaptive cruise control adds an extra layer of assurance on the road.
Conclusion:
The 2024 KIA Telluride SX-Prestige X-Pro V6 AWD offers a lot of value for the MSRP and is one of the top choices to be considered when looking at the MID-Size SUV category of vehicles. Everything from the exterior design to the interior technology and space caters to the needs of those looking for a well-rounded dependable vehicle. When you add in the safety features and 3rd row space it is no wonder the KIA Telluride is considered one of the best choices in its class.
