BMW is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its ‘M’ division with a special M4 model called the BMW M4 CSL, and the first leaked images of the car have surfaced.
The acronym ‘CSL’ stands for “Coupe Sport Lightweight” in BMW terminology and has historically been used for the brand’s most performance-oriented road cars. Similar to the iconic M3 CSL, this new model is lighter and more powerful than the standard M4, thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber components that have reduced the weight by 100 kg.
The BMW M4 CSL features a unique exterior design with a prominent large kidney grille, bumper enhancements with additional splitter elements and stylish end plates, a large rear diffuser, and a distinctive ducktail spoiler. Inside, the M4 CSL is equipped with carbon bucket seats paired with a combination of leather and Alcantara materials.
Under the hood, the M4 CSL is powered by a 3.0-liter straight-6 engine that has reportedly been tuned to produce 550 hp. The increased power output and reduced weight are expected to enhance the car’s performance on the racetrack.
Reports suggest that BMW plans to produce only 1000 units of the M4 CSL, each with a price tag of €170,000.
