# 2021 Lexus GX 460 Review
The 2021 Lexus GX 460 embodies the classic, stylish essence of Lexus. In my test drive of the Luxury Trim model featuring a Claret Mica exterior and Black NuLuxe simulated-leather, along with the optional Sport Design Package, I found that this luxury SUV retains its core characteristics over the years while still offering a competent and stylish driving experience.
### Highlights
The standout features of the GX 460 include its bold aesthetic, comfortable seating, impressive off-road capabilities, interior design, and technology. Whether cruising to a symphony or navigating a mountain trail, this luxury SUV provides a remarkably pleasant ride that excels in comfort, luxury, and quality.

### Driving Experience
During my time with the 7-passenger GX 460 Luxury, the term “versatility” stood out. Passengers benefit from a luxurious and spacious interior, complete with convenient access to A/C and heating vents as well as USB inputs. While the ride is exceptionally smooth, it may sacrifice some responsiveness and handling in tight turns. Nonetheless, the GX 460 impresses with its legitimate off-road capabilities.
### Exterior
The commanding presence of the GX 460’s exterior exudes a sense of style and grace. With a sharp design, the Lexus utility vehicle strikes a balance between beauty and strength. The distinct grill design and headlights represent notable upgrades from previous models, making for a sophisticated yet robust appearance. The Claret Mica exterior paint adds a touch of elegance with its deep red hue.
### Interior
The cabin of the 2021 Lexus GX 460 stands out for its premium quality. In higher trims, abundant authentic wood and soft leather trim grace most interior surfaces. The front accommodations offer luxurious comfort typical of Lexus, while the second row, particularly with captain’s chairs, provides a cozy space for adults. The third row is better suited for children, and the interior is meticulously finished with clear instruments and numerous buttons.
### Sport Design Package
The Sport Design Package, available for an additional $2,020, enhances the aesthetics of the GX 460 with features such as 19-inch split-six-spoke alloy wheels, Sport Design front fascia, and heated second-row captain’s chairs. These additions not only elevate the exterior appeal but also cater to passenger comfort.
### Engine / Powertrain
Powered by a 301-horsepower 4.6-liter V8 engine producing 329 lb.-ft. of torque, the GX 460 proves to be a dual-purpose vehicle ideal for towing with its 6,500-lb. capacity. Equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission and full-time 4WD complemented by Active traction control, the SUV ensures optimal traction in various conditions. The gas mileage averages around 16 MPG, with a standard 23-gallon fuel tank.
### Infotainment
The GX 460 boasts a generous split-screen navigation system and a 12.3-inch multimedia display for seamless access to audio, climate controls, and navigation features. The optional Mark Levinson Surround Sound Audio System, meticulously tuned for over 4,000 hours, offers exceptional audio quality with 17 speakers and 7.1-channel architecture.
### Safety
Safety features in the GX 460 include the Panoramic View Monitor with high-resolution cameras for a comprehensive view around the vehicle, as well as advanced driver-assist technologies such as Pre-Collision Detection System, Lane Departure Alert, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. These features enhance safety by providing alerts and interventions to prevent collisions and lane departures.
### Conclusion
In conclusion, the 2021 Lexus GX 460 embodies a blend of sophistication, power, and rugged capability. While it may sacrifice some fuel efficiency and handling for a more luxurious ride, this SUV excels in offering a premium driving experience both on and off the road. If you seek a vehicle that seamlessly combines luxury, technology, and versatile performance for city and off-road adventures, the GX 460 is a compelling option.
