2021 Lexus ES 300h Ultra Luxury

The Lexus  ES 300h Ultra Luxury is an exceptional all around four-door Five-passenger luxury sedan with sharp handling. I tested the 2.5L -cylinder gas engine plus Lexus Hybrid Drive in beautiful Sunlight Green Exterior. The vehicle was loaded with options and the 300H looks great, a quiet and spacious interior and loaded with technology. There are a lot of driver assistance features and the efficient hybrid powertrain add safety and great gas mileage.

Highlights

Lexus always delivers and I have grown to expect excellence whenever I sit behind the wheel of any Lexus product. The 44 combined MPG was impressive and the car was loaded with Lexus luxury options and technology. The car looks classy and has a beautiful exterior. Ride quality is excellent and it has three drive modes, Eco Normal and Sport. I enjoyed the quicker acceleration in Sport mode and it is faster than anticipated.

Driver Experience

The  ES 300h Ultra Luxury handling and acceleration are on par with what you would expect from Lexus. The cabin is extremely quiet, even on this extremely noisy stretch on the 202 in Phoenix. Lexus made some adjustments to the chassis  which gives the car’s suspension comfort and great handling. The ES 300h’s 2.5-liter, four-cylinder gas engine (A25A-FXS) running on the Atkinson cycle is coupled with a smaller, more power dense electric motor and a hybrid transaxle. The results are a combined 215 total system horsepower and an estimated 44 combined mpg. The Lexus ES 300h gets 0-60 in 8.1 seconds and top speed is 112 MPH (Electronically limited).

Interior

You know if Lexus calls a car Ultra Luxury the interior is going to be super nice and it lives up to expectations. Perforated semi-aniline leather–trimmed interior with Heated and ventilated 10-way power adjustable front seats. The interior has beautiful wood trim  and when combined with ambient lighting it creates a great mood experience. Great looks and a quiet ride are complete when you add the The world’s first Mark Levinson PurePlay sound system.

Exterior

The 2021 Lexus ES 300h Ultra Luxury features the signature grille that follows the path set forth by the LC coupe and the LS flagship, yet adds individual cues unique to the ES, like the vertical grille pattern. That theme is repeated at each corner of the bumper to give the ES a wide, planted look that promotes strength and stability. The upgraded Triple beam LED headlights really flow and add to the exterior. This car has that classy Lexus look and it is stylish. A nice finish to the exterior is the 18-inch split, five-spoke wheel design with a high-gloss finish is standard on Ultra Luxury grade.

Engine / Powertrain

2.5L -cylinder gas engine plus Lexus Hybrid Drive running on the Atkinson cycle is coupled with a smaller, more power dense electric motor and a hybrid transaxle. The results are a combined 215 total system horsepower and a manufacturer estimated 44 combined mpg. New for 2021, engineers replaced the nickel-metal hybrid battery that powers the electric motor with a lithium ion battery.

Safety

The standard safety package includes a rearview camera and the Lexus Safety System+ 2.0. It features several advanced safety features that include low-light pedestrian detection, collision warning system, daytime cyclist detection, lane tracing assist, road sign assist, lane departure alert coupled with steering assistance, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. Optional safety features include parking sensors with automatic emergency braking, a head-up display, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring.

Conclusion

The 2021 Lexus ES 300h Ultra Luxury is a sensible and luxurious choice for anyone looking for a beautiful, roomy sedan. It has a stylish exterior, a beautiful interior, and offers a great driving experience. The gas mileage at 44MPG combined plus the agility of a 5 passenger sedan makes this car a great choice if you are in the market for a luxury sedan.
