2021 GRAND CHEROKEE L SUMMIT RESERVE 4X4

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee
2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Intro

This week I test drove the 2021 Grand Cherokee L Summit Reserve 4×4. Jeep has stepped it up with the Grand Cherokee. The highlights were quite a few, there are so many things to like with this vehicle. I like the way you can control the height of the Jeep. The engine is powerful and it is fun to drive, on and off road. The Jeep is very capable for off-road and bad weather conditions. The interior is spacious and the version I tested was quite luxurious. Overall just a tough vehicle that hides it well.

Driver Experience

The 2021 Grand Cherokee looks like a Luxury SUV but under the hood and body is a serious 4×4 vehicle that can take you anywhere you want ago. You can see in the pic 4 peaks in the background and the Jeep performed up and down the mountainous terrain of the Arizona desert wilderness area. The controls are very intuitive and it is easy to raise and lower the body based on clearance needs, speed and terrain. This Jeep scores big for durability and is rugged enough for most off-road adventures.

Exterior

The new exterior is bold and more modern in looks but still holds true to its roots. The Grand Cherokee gets a refresh of the front grill. You still know its a Jeep but a nice addition and more modern look. The exterior overall has a luxurious design that gives it more than just curb appeal as it is more aerodynamic. The LED lighting adds to the looks but also has great functionality. My tester had the elegant Diamond Black Crystal Pearl exterior color.

Interior

The interior of the 2021 Grand Cherokee L Summit Reserve interior is noticeably different and perhaps the most luxurious in its class. I enjoyed the interior space and all the design elements. The lighting creates the mood and the upgraded McIntosh stereo system made me want to spend more time inside the vehicle. This Jeep makes road trips fun! There is a lot of space and comfort built into the new Jeep Grand Cherokee. The 10.1 Inch touch screen integrates nicely into the design with plenty of customizable options for the driver and passenger. The ride is smooth and the interior is luxurious and yet it was ready at a moment’s notice to go off-road on an adventure. One really cool feature about this jeep is  the ability to raise and lower the body/ground clearance with the touch of a button.

Engine / Powertrain

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee comes standard with Engine 3.6-Liter V6 24-Valve VVT Engine with ESS coupled with an 8-Speed Automatic 850RE Transmission.

The engine and powertrain generate 290 horsepower at 6,400RPM . It gets 26 MPG Highway, 19 MPG City and 22 MPG Combined. I was impressed with the gas mileage considering the power and off-road capabilities. I felt like I could go anywhere. With the touch of a button you can actually lift the vehicle and increase your ground clearance.

Safety

The 2021 jeep Grand Cherokee is loaded with safety features.

The following are some of the safety options available:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go
  • Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path Detection
  • Full-Speed Collision Warning with Active Braking and Pedestrian/Cyclist Detection
  • Intersection Collision Assist
  • Night Vision Camera
  • Active Driving Assist

Conclusion

The 2021 GRAND CHEROKEE L SUMMIT RESERVE 4X4 is well worth the price tag. It has all the luxury features of a Mercedes or Land Rover but still maintains the rugged durability and off-road capabilities you expect in a Jeep.

The starting MSRP is $63,260 and the version I tested MSRP is $$64,280

Fuel economy is rated at 18 city, 25 highway, makes this an excellent value for a 3-row SUV equipped like this.
