Introduced in April 2010, the Ferrari 599 GTO became the third model to carry the esteemed title “Gran Turismo Omologato,” following the legendary 250 GTO and 288 GTO. This street-legal iteration of the race-oriented 599 XX achieved an impressive 670 horsepower, thanks to reduced friction in the engine, an enhanced compression ratio, and revised intake and exhaust systems.
With a weight reduction of nearly 100 kg, the car could go from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3.3 seconds and reached a maximum speed exceeding 208 mph. Featuring a front-engine design, it stood as Ferrari’s quickest road car at the time, beating the mid-engined Enzo on the Fiorano track.
Among the enhanced features were a swiftly shifting gearbox, upgraded magnetorheological dampers, sophisticated traction control, and numerous weight reduction strategies, including thinner glass, an aluminum trunk lid, forged alloy wheels, and carbon fiber seats. The carbon ceramic brakes, paired with carbon pads, provided exceptional stopping performance. The model had a production cap of 599 units, with 125 designated for the US market.
This 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO, chassis number 182832, is being offered by RM Sotheby’s. Completed in June 2011, the vehicle was first delivered to Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale in Florida, where it resided for the initial four years of its life.
The vehicle is in immaculate condition, showcasing just 1,900 miles since new, adorned in a striking two-tone Nero and Rosso Corsa racing color scheme, complete with the optional central racing stripe and painted mirrors that are characteristic of the 599 GTO. Additionally, the interior is outfitted in Nero leather featuring Daytona-style seats enhanced by Rosso inserts.
Notable Rosso elements can also be spotted in the seat belts, stitching, instrument cluster, and tachometer. Available options encompass black-painted 20” Challenge wheels featuring carbon fiber centers, Rosso brake calipers, carbon fiber door sills, connectivity for iPod devices, tinted rear windows, and a Bose HiFi sound system.
