Toyota Venza 2022 Review: The Ultimate Hybrid Crossover

The 2022 Toyota Venza hybrid crossover is a sleek and efficient alternative to traditional SUVs, offering a quiet and smooth driving experience. This compact hybrid crossover seats five and comes standard with all-wheel drive, positioning it as a competitor to vehicles like the Toyota RAV4, Subaru Forester, and Honda CR-V. The design of the Venza is elegant and sophisticated, resembling a Lexus with its sculpted shape and luxurious interior. Unlike the angular and aggressive look of the RAV4, the Venza boasts softer edges and flowing curves, exuding a sense of refinement.

In terms of performance, the 2022 Venza prioritizes fuel efficiency while still delivering decent acceleration and handling. Powered by a hybrid 2.5-liter inline-4 engine producing a total of 219 horsepower, the Venza achieves smooth integration of gasoline and electric power. Its unique all-wheel-drive system enhances traction and stability, with acceleration from 0-60 mph in approximately seven seconds. The Venza’s gearless transmission contributes to a seamless and economical driving experience, although braking may feel slightly imprecise due to the transition between regenerative braking and conventional brakes.

The Venza offers a comfortable and serene ride, thanks to its Lexus-inspired suspension tuning. While it may not deliver exhilarating performance, the Venza handles corners with ease and absorbs bumps in the road effortlessly. The hybrid powertrain contributes to impressive fuel economy ratings, with the EPA estimating 40 mpg in the city, 37 mpg on the highway, and 39 mpg combined.

Safety is a top priority for the Venza, with excellent crash test ratings and a comprehensive suite of advanced safety features. Every Venza model comes equipped with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitors, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Optional features like parking sensors, a head-up display, and a surround-view camera system further enhance safety and convenience.

Inside, the Venza offers a premium and spacious cabin, featuring high-quality materials and a user-friendly infotainment system. The front seats are comfortable and supportive, with the option for heating and cooling functions. The second row provides ample legroom, though headroom may be limited for taller passengers. Cargo space is slightly compromised due to the coupe-like roofline but remains practical for everyday use.

With three trim levels available, the Venza caters to a variety of preferences and budgets. The base Venza LE offers a compelling package of features, while the higher trims like the Venza XLE and Limited add luxury amenities such as synthetic leather upholstery, a larger touchscreen, and premium audio systems. Pricing starts at $33,885 for the LE trim and goes up to $41,215 for the fully loaded Limited trim.

In conclusion, the 2022 Toyota Venza stands out as a stylish and efficient hybrid crossover that prioritizes comfort, safety, and technology. Whether you prioritize upscale aesthetics or rugged versatility, the Venza and the RAV4 offer distinct choices within the Toyota lineup, ensuring that there is a suitable option for every driver’s preferences.
