The Abarth brand was reborn in 2007 with the Punto Abarth. However, several years down the line, this 500 series is quite a grand thing to follow, coming through in trims including Turismo, Competizione and 695 Biposto.

Worth noting, first three Abarths available as a convertible. And now, the Abarth 595 is a sporty version that comes with more powerful engines, upgraded suspension and a number of eye-catching styling tweaks.

In addition,a new front bumper brings around an enlarged front air scoop, which not only looks more aggressive but is designed to increase engine cooling by up to 18 percent. At the back, there’s a more pronounced diffuser, and revised reflectors and vents.

To further distinguish between trim levels, each of the five trim levels gains unique detailing. Bumper inserts, for example, are finished in matte black on the entry-level 595, body colored on the 595 Turismo and grey on the 595 Competizione.

Both the Competizione and the Pista gets the option of a new Adrenalina Green paint finish and the choice of a contrasting black roof. The engine is still a 1.4-litre turbocharged unit as before.

It’s available in four power outputs: 138 bhp for the standard 595, 158 bhp for the Pista, 163 bhp for the Turismo and 178 bhp in the Competizione and Rivale. The most powerful model accelerates from 0-62 mph in 6.7 seconds (0.6 seconds quicker than the Turismo).

All models are paired with a five-speed manual gearbox, while an automatic with wheel-mounted paddle shifters is optional. The brand with a scorpion log has made a great effort at raising the bar and giving the Abarth a face lift.

Luckily, it seems to have done the magic to turn things around.
