The Rimac Nevera has secured its position as the fastest electric production car in the world after reaching an impressive top speed of 256 mph (412 km/h) during a speed record attempt at Automotive Testing Papenburg.

This all-electric hypercar is equipped with four electric motors that deliver a remarkable total output of 1914 horsepower and 1696 lb-ft of torque. According to Rimac, the Nevera can go from 0 to 60 mph in under 2.4 seconds. Initially, the company had claimed a top speed of 258 mph, a target that has now been successfully achieved.

Rimac, the owner of Bugatti, a renowned brand famous for its 300 mph hypercars, faced a significant challenge in transitioning from developing a quad-turbo W16 engine for high-speed combustion cars to creating an electric model capable of similar performance levels. The demands on the electric motors and cooling systems to manage the heat generated are considerable.

By setting this new speed record, the Nevera has demonstrated that electric vehicles can compete with the likes of Bugattis and Koenigseggs in terms of raw performance.
