The Honda S2000 has been around for a considerable amount of time, taking over from the S800. But what is it about the S2000 that has made it such a beloved and enjoyable car?

One of the standout features of the S2000 is its engine, which sets it apart from other vehicles. With a 2.0-liter block, the engine produces an impressive 237 bhp. What’s even more remarkable is that this power output was available even in 2009, showcasing the car’s enduring performance.

It’s worth noting that the S2000 achieves its power without the use of forced induction. Moreover, the car can rev up to an impressive 9000 rpm, thanks to the positioning of the four-cylinder engine towards the back of the engine bay, giving the Honda a front/mid-engine sports car designation.

The driving position of the S2000 further emphasizes its sporting heritage. The design takes inspiration from 1950s Le Mans racers, with a large digital rev counter prominently displayed in front of the driver, underscoring the car’s performance-oriented nature.

The placement of the alloy gearknob just under the driver’s left palm atop the elevated central transmission tunnel, which protrudes into the cabin and may limit space for larger drivers, adds to the overall sporty feel of the interior. While there is a fair amount of black plastic, the cabin exudes a sense of quality without unnecessary flashiness. The presence of red seats and carpet, a signature style of fast Hondas from the late 1990s, enhances the overall experience and adds to the excitement of hitting the accelerator.

Even in its older iterations, the Honda S2000 retains a sense of grandeur and excitement.
