Peugeot 508 Review: Bigger, Better, and Gifted To Perform

The SUV rush has made small car segments including sedans and hatchbacks a treacherous region for manufacturers to consider. It requires a well-thought approach and market analysis, lest you get it all wrong.

In fact, if it is considered necessary that an automaker must make cars for this segment, they just got to do them right. Notwithstanding, there still are lots of them sedans coming touching the tarmac. Some get it right, others don’t.

The Peugeot 508 has come with an extreme overzealous approach. First of all, it now gets a whole five doors, which changes lots of its styling for the better.

It is now a low-slung coupe that isn’t afraid to tackle the planet. Peugeot is even more comfortable calling it a fastback, a term that has become synonymous with the likes of the Jaguar E-type and Ford Mustang. After all, this car has entered into a heavily competitive zone and has to keep things straight.

The new machine rides on the EMP chassis which helps it to shed 70 kg(155 lbs) of curb weight so that it finally weighs 1,420kg (3,200 pounds). It rides on a 1.6-liter petrol four engines that help to send power to the front wheels.

This is done through an eight-speed Aisin automatic transmission gearbox. Suffice it to say that this is an admirably fast machine that very warmly incorporates its looks into performance.
