Ferrari’s first plug-in hybrid supercar is due to get a major update. It’s no secret that Maranello is working on a more track-focused version of the SF90 Stradale. Dubbed the SF90 VS (Versione Speciale), test mules of this car are already out in the wild. However, the latest spy images have revealed new details about the upcoming model.

The first thing you notice about the Ferrari SF90 VS test mule featured here is the rather odd-looking rear spoiler. Besides the wing, the diffuser also seems to have been redesigned for optimal downforce.

Moving to the front of the car, the SF90 VS gets a reworked front bumper featuring an extended splitter element and what appears to be a central intake of some sort.

Being the high-performance version of the SF90, the Versione Speciale could pack a bit more punch. In its present configuration, the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 unit produces 769 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. The internal combustion engine is assisted by two electric motors mounted at the front and one at the rear, adding another 217 hp for a combined output of 986 hp.

Ferrari is all set to debut the SF90 VS later this year.
