The Hyundai Group has made a significant impact on the electric vehicle market with models like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. Now, the Genesis GV60 aims to continue this trend by offering a unique and enticing offering. Although sharing a platform with the Ioniq 5 and EV6, the GV60 sets itself apart with its distinctive design.

Compared to its counterparts, the GV60 boasts a sleek and smooth appearance without the sharp lines found in other EVs. The overall look leans towards that of a tall hatchback, exuding elegance. It incorporates signature Genesis design elements, including stylish headlights and taillights, along with a distinctive zig-zag detail in the c-pillar.

Inside, the GV60 elevates the experience with high-quality materials and a well-thought-out design. The cabin features dual 12.3-inch screens, with one serving as a digital gauge cluster and the other for infotainment purposes. The infotainment system, controlled via a center console dial or touch input, is responsive and user-friendly. However, it lacks wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

In terms of technology, the GV60 offers innovative features such as customizable driver profiles utilizing biometric identification. A facial recognition camera on the driver’s side door can automatically unlock the vehicle, while a fingerprint reader ensures authorized access. Unique touches like a rotating shift dial that transforms into a lighted orb when the vehicle is off add a touch of sophistication. Additionally, a “BOOST” button on the steering wheel unlocks additional power from the impressive powertrain.

Speaking of performance, the GV60 is equipped with a dual-motor electric system and a 77.4-kWh battery pack. Opting for the Performance trim level yields a potent 429 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. Engaging the Boost button temporarily boosts the horsepower to 483 hp, providing exhilarating acceleration.

The Performance trim also includes a mechanical slip differential and electronically controlled suspension, enhancing handling on challenging roads. Engaging Sport mode tightens the suspension and sharpens throttle response, resulting in minimal body roll and a thrilling driving experience.

The GV60 offers two trim levels, Advanced and Performance, each with varying driving ranges. The Advanced trim provides a range of 248 miles, while the Performance trim slightly reduces it to 235 miles. Although not groundbreaking, these specs are respectable.

Notably, the GV60 shares the same advanced 800-volt technology as the Ioniq 5 and EV6, enabling rapid charging at 225 kW. This allows the GV60 to charge from 10-80 percent in just 18 minutes, ensuring minimal downtime.

With a starting price of $59,985 (including destination), the 2023 Genesis GV60 offers a compelling package. The Performance trim, priced at $69,385, provides additional performance enhancements for enthusiasts.

In conclusion, the Genesis GV60 impresses with its striking design, well-crafted interior, and thrilling powertrain. While the price may be on the higher side, the overall package justifies the investment for those seeking a premium electric driving experience.
