The Jaguar XJ22C packs a blend of style and performance, making it a prized possession for any car enthusiast. This unique machine made its debut in the 1990s and has since carved out its own remarkable journey.

However, the XJ22C faced a setback when it lost its GT-class title at the 1993 24 Hours of Le Mans due to a lack of catalytic converters, just a month after its initial victory. With only 275 units ever made, this car remains exclusive and is not street-legal.

In December 2018, auction house Bonhams put one of these legendary cars up for auction at its Bond Street Sale. Sporting its iconic racing number 50, this model boasts a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engine akin to the XJ220’s road version.

Generating 542 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque, this machine comes at a hefty price tag of $2.9 million to $3.7 million. Vintage cars like this one evoke nostalgia for bygone eras and provide valuable insights for future innovations in automotive engineering.

It will be intriguing to see the type of collectors drawn to this remarkable vehicle and how it contributes to shaping the automotive landscape.
