The Incredible 1964 Chevrolet Cheetah Prototype Priced at $795,000

The 1960s was a remarkable era marked by fierce competition among leading brands. During this time, innovation and creativity were thriving as everyone strove to stay ahead in the race.

Bill Thomas was a passionate individual when it came to sports cars. Together with master fabricator Don Edmunds, he embarked on a project to recreate a Chevy-powered Cheetah at Bill Thomas Race Cars. The goal was to develop a car that could rival the renowned Cobra.

Originally, Cheetahs were not intended to be used as race cars, and there were doubts about their potential success. The attempts to fine-tune 377ci Chevy V-8s led to disappointing results. Issues such as overheating and chassis flexing were encountered, causing alignment problems with the wheels.

The Cheetah currently available for purchase, known as Cheetah #003, is equipped with the original Corvette 327ci block and Thomas cylinder heads under the hood. It also features various desirable vintage components.

For a price tag of $795,000, you could own this piece of automotive history. Car enthusiasts have a unique passion for preserving and reviving classic vehicles, turning them into beloved modern treasures.
