The Audi PB18 E-Tron made its debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in September 2018. It represents Audi’s bold vision for an all-electric racecar that is also suitable for regular street driving.
This car is so unique that Audi has kept its name simple: PB18 refers to Pebble Beach, and E-tron is Audi’s term for its electric vehicle range.
The front of the PB18 e-tron resembles a typical coupe design with some elements similar to Audi’s current supercar, the R8. The distinctive hexagon-shaped Singleframe grille dominates the front end.
Beneath the grille, large inlets serve a dual purpose by channeling cool air to the front electric motor and brakes of the concept. Above these inlets, thin lights with laser high-beams and digital matrix technology showcase Audi’s advanced technologies.
Despite its sleek design, the PB18 e-tron boasts a functional short hood that also acts as an air deflector. Measuring 14.5 feet in length, 6.4 feet in width, and 4.6 feet in height, it commands attention in its class.
One of the most intriguing features is the PB18’s windshield, which incorporates an augmented reality system to display road information. This feature can be particularly useful on a racetrack, providing the driver with the optimal racing line.
Additionally, the seat and instrument cluster can slide to create space for a passenger, adding to the car’s versatility. The PB18 e-tron raises questions about its potential as the successor to Audi’s flagship supercar, the R8. The automotive world eagerly anticipates what Audi may unveil next.
