A Mazda Classic Car that Made a Stir on the Roads

There have been instances when car manufacturers create cars not just for regular use but to make a statement, to push the market boundaries, and to showcase a new realm of possibilities. The Mazda Cosmo was one such car.

At the Tokyo Motor Show in 1964, the Mazda Cosmo Sport made its debut to an excited audience. By 1965, sixty prototype models were tested, and shortly after, the full production was announced.

This Mazda model was praised for being the first car in the world to feature a dual-rotor rotary engine. Each Cosmo was meticulously handcrafted, resulting in only one unit being produced per day.

Fast forward to 2019, and the same car that introduced groundbreaking technologies is still making waves. A 2019 concept version retains the two-seater sports car layout but with significant technological upgrades.

The modern updates include an electric powertrain, a hydrogen-fueled rotary engine acting as a range extender, Level 4 autonomous driving capabilities, and 3D facial recognition.

The journey of this Mazda sports car is truly remarkable. With these new enhancements, we can anticipate an extension of its legacy and a rekindling of its former glory.
