Pininfarina Battista Sets New Speed Record by Surpassing the Nevera

The Pininfarina Battista has claimed the title of the quickest-accelerating production car in a quarter-mile race.

Clocking in at 8.55 seconds, the Battista surpassed the Rimac Nevera’s record by 0.03 seconds. It accomplished the half-mile in 13.38 seconds and reached a top speed of 222 mph.

This record-breaking feat was achieved at the NATRAX high-speed test track in India. Recently, the electric hypercar was also exhibited at the Hyderabad E-Prix event.

Pininfarina, now under the ownership of Mahindra & Mahindra in India, introduced its first electric hypercar at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Boasting four electric motors delivering 1874 hp and 1694 lb-ft of torque, the Battista is claimed to accelerate from 0-62 mph in under 2 seconds. It houses a 120 kWh battery providing a range of 311 miles.

Among its key competitors are the Rimac Nevera and Lotus Evija. The former holds the title of the fastest production EV at 256 mph, featuring four electric motors producing 1914 horsepower and 1696 lb-ft of torque. On the other hand, the Evija’s four electric motors generate 1973 hp and 1254 lb-ft of torque.
