In Australia, an automobile that wins the Wheels Car of the Year places wins a slot in the annals of history. Volvo has had this prestige for 2019.
Awarded by the Wheels Magazine, the COTY has its place in the industry and the magazine promotes it as one of the most prestigious in the world. It, therefore, turns out that Volvo winning this award gives an important highlight to its lifeline. The good thing is that the XC40 which was crowned with this iconic award is already a rather established car and doing considerably well so far.
Bearing in mind that the jury consists of 82 journalists from 24 countries around the world, the threshold is quite high. A car enlisted for the award must also be selling in at least two continents and at least five countries. This is a car carries a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder that produces 184 or 248 horsepower.
There is also the T5 which is arguably more powerful and drives on all four. Driving an eight-speed automatic makes the vehicle easy handling for a wide range of drivers.
The exterior becomes more conspicuous with a youthful architecture crowned by a dashboard. Fitted with AND 9.0-inch touchscreen and Volvo’s Sensus Connect infotainment system makes the entire console very interactive.
The XC40 is one of the most promising Volvo SUVs in the market today and seems to complement well with its bigger cousins such as the XC60 and the XC90. It is not surprising then it has won the heart of enthusiasts and aims to amaze with great performance.
