Automaker Nissan has joined forces with the prestigious design firm Italdesign to craft the exclusive GT-R50. This model is a tribute to the 50th anniversaries of Nissan’s GT-R badge in 2019 and Italdesign in 2018. With roots in the R35 GT-R, only 50 units will be manufactured.
The GT-R50 boasts distinctive features setting it apart from its predecessor, the R35. It is longer, wider, and sits lower than the Nismo model it is based on, with a 54mm lower roofline.
The vehicle’s original characteristics have been enhanced and aerodynamically enhanced, notably with the addition of a sizable adjustable rear wing. As a limited edition vehicle, performance has been fine-tuned to elevate its exclusivity.
The car is equipped with a 3.8-liter V6 engine that churns out 710 bhp and 575 lb-ft of torque, a leap from the standard GT-R Nismo’s 592 bhp and 481 lb-ft.
Furthermore, it features race-worthy turbochargers, an enlarged inter-cooler system, adjustable dampers, a robust crankshaft, pistons, bearings, and connecting rods. Enhanced intake and exhaust systems contribute to the substantial 118 bhp increase.
The design chief Alfonso Albaisa captured the essence by stating, “This is a unique moment where two significant milestones intersect – 50 years of Italdesign’s influence on the automotive industry and 50 years of Nissan’s legacy represented by the iconic GT-R. To commemorate this collaboration, Nissan and Italdesign have created this bespoke GT-R to honor 50 years of engineering excellence.”
