Electronics giant Sony has debuted an electric car dubbed the Vision-S. This out-rightly becomes one of the biggest surprises at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show.

Sony’s concept is an electric car sedan that gives the whole idea of electric cruising a whole new approach. To start with, the company says that the Vision-S is fitted with 33 different sensors inside and outside.

There are also multiple widescreen displays, 360 audio, and always-on connectivity. Some of this admirable equipment are provided by BlackBerry and Bosch. Sony plans to make this an all-wheel-drive car that rides on the newly developed EV platform.

The Japanese conglomerate says that the suspension is adaptable to the coupe, sedan, and SUV body types. Power comes from a dual-motor system and the vehicle’s total weight is 5,180 pounds. This car is estimated to do a 4.8 secs sprint from zero-to-60-mph. The maximum speed is capped at 149 mph but battery details have not been availed.

Speaking during the launch, Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida said, “This prototype embodies our contribution to the future of mobility and contains a variety of Sony’s technologies.” An especially outstanding element on this car is a panoramic screen that stretches the entire length of the dashboard.

With this, the instrument panel and center screen turn into a dream-like utility in a highly intuitive car. These are just snippets and the company has demonstrated its extraordinary style of getting a piece of the cake. With competition on EVs riding higher, distinguishable products will play a key role in turning concepts into cash.
