In 1974, Lamborghini introduced a bold car that captured the hearts of car enthusiasts, especially the young generation who proudly displayed posters of it on their bedroom walls. This trend continued for nearly two decades, all the way through 1990, as the car continued to push boundaries.
The LP5000S version of the Countach stands out as the quintessential representation of the model, featuring its striking flared design and a robust 4.75-liter V12 engine generating 375 horsepower, fueled by six powerful double-barrel Weber carburetors.
Originally launched in 1982, the LP5000 S marked the third evolution of the Countach series, succeeding the LP400 Periscopio and the LP400 S, which boasted incredibly flared wheel arches. The addition of a larger 4.75-liter twelve-cylinder engine with 24 valves finally gave the model the power it deserved, making it the most potent, torquey, and quickest accelerating Lamborghini of its time.
Today, the LP5000S remains a highly desirable collector’s item, with only 321 units ever produced. It is twice as rare as the subsequent LP5000 QV and 25th Anniversary models yet is more affordable than the original LP400 Periscopio.
Undoubtedly, this model turned the Countach into an iconic poster car for an entire generation.
This specific Lamborghini Countach, bearing chassis number 12740, was finalized in 1984 and initially delivered to Monaco. The car was styled in Bianco with a Bianco interior and notably excluded the rear wing to maintain a top speed of 182mph. After being imported to California, it resided there for two decades, changing ownership once and going through a complete engine reconstruction in 2013.
In 2016, a German Lamborghini enthusiast added the vehicle to their collection and had it serviced by a reputable specialist. In 2021, the car received another service in Germany and currently remains in the country with its original matching numbers, a comprehensive history file, and a Certificate of Authenticity from the factory.
This Lamborghini Countach LP5000S, with matching numbers, is now available, accompanied by a detailed history file containing various invoices and a Certificate of Authenticity from the Sant’Agata factory, verifying its origins. This exquisite example has been meticulously cared for and maintained since its inception, ensuring an exceptional driving experience!
