2022 Genesis G70 3.3 T RWD Sport Prestige
The Genesis G70 Sport Prestige is an all around great luxury sports sedan and is now considered by many a heavy competitor with the likes of BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi.
This week I got to test drive the 2022 Genesis V70 3.3T RWD Sport Prestige and some of the highlights was the V-6 engine along with the Macpherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension delivers incredible performance. The Genesis is packed with luxury features and the added Sport Advanced Package and Sport Prestige Package make this a car I won’t forget.
Exterior
At first glimpse you might think you are looking at a Mercedes or other high end sports sedan. The exterior of the 2022 Genesis G70 3.3T RWD Sports Prestige is classy with an edge. The 19-inch unique sport alloy wheels give it nice curb appeal.
This car has similar appeal like a Mercedes or BMW at a fraction of the cost. The Siberian Ice White Paint has a beautiful and classic tint to it. This car looks great sitting in the driveway or at the valet of one of Phoenix’s many resorts.
Interior
The real fun starts when you begin to look inside the vehicle and this is where the real luxury and fundamental improvements are. The interior of the 2022 Genesis G70 3.3T AWD Sports Prestige is impeccable, especially when upgrading to the advanced trim. The first thing you will notice is the sweeping lines of the exterior that carries into the interior for a more cohesive look.
Aside from the sleek look, the car features an infotainment screen, which is around 10.75inches wide. Choosing the advanced trim will also give you access to the ambient lighting on the inside, including Nappa leather upholstery for your seats. It is comfortable to drive long distances and the Lexicon 15 speaker Premium Audio Sound System sounds great with the genesis acoustics. Road noise is minimal as the cabin is nice and cozy.
The interior has been updated and in terms of features, material quality, and fit and finish, it is a huge improvement. The controls are well laid out, with a row of hard buttons for primary infotainment features, knobs for quick climate control adjustments, and a drive mode knob that allows you to switch between Eco, Comfort, Sport, the new-for-2022 Sport+, and Custom modes with minimal fumbling.
Overall, the interior is stylish and is making great strides against some stiff competition in the luxury sports sedan category.
Engine/Powertrain
The 2022 Genesis G70 3.3T RWD Sports Prestige is equipped with 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged, direct-injected V6 and eight-speed automatic transmission. This combo generates 365HP @ 6,000 rpm and can go 0-60 in 4.5 seconds. The G70 still manages 18 city | 27 highway | 21 combined (RWD). The Sports Mode is definitely noticeable in acceleration and power.
Special Options/Package
The 2022 Genesis G70 3.3T RWD Sports Prestige price range is low for the quality, but there are a few upgrades that you can see when choosing a different package.
My Test Genesis came with the Sport Advanced Package and Sport Prestige Package, each about $4,000 to add but even with these additions the G70 still shows a lot of value with much higher priced competitors.
Some of the notable package features were as follows:
- 19-inch Sport Alloy Wheels
- Dark Chrome Grille & Daylight Opening
- Variable Exhaust Valve System
- Lexicon 15 speaker Premium Audio Sound System
- Dark Chrome Grille & Daylight Opening Trim
- Nappa Leather Seating Surfaces
- Sport Aluminum Trim / Alloy Pedals
- Heads up Display and more…
Safety
The G70 3.3T RWD Sports Prestige was the 2022 IIHS safety pick +. It does come with some impressive safety features. The advanced driving assistance system is perfect for safe and convenient driving to help the driver effectively respond to any potential risks.
The model I tested had an additional two features Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) and Lane Following Assist (LFA), which sends a warning if the vehicle is deviating from the lane with no turn signal activated. The Forward Attention Warning (FAW) also recognizes if the driver is not looking ahead and sends out a warning.
Finally, the manufacturer has included Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), which automatically slams on the breaks when a collision is imminent. It also has the potential of helping the driver with the steering should they get into a collision.
Verdict
The 2022 Genesis G70 3.3T RWD Sports Prestige certainly stands out. Comparing it to the bigger brands like BMW and Mercedes, we see that it punches way above it’s MSRP. The Luxury and Sports Sedan mix is enough of both to elevate Genesis amongst it’s competitors.
My tester had an MSRP of $51,445 and it was loaded with extras. The MSRP starting for this model is $42,100
Overall, the 2022 Genesis G70 3.3T RWD Sports Prestige is certainly a great model for 2022.The vehicle has an incredible reputation and is a great value for the money.
