2022 Genesis G70 3.3 T RWD Sport Prestige

The Genesis G70 Sport Prestige is a luxury sports sedan that competes fiercely with well-known brands like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi.

This week, I had the opportunity to experience the 2022 Genesis G70 3.3T RWD Sport Prestige. Some of the standout features include the powerful V-6 engine and the impressive Macpherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension that delivers outstanding performance. The Genesis is loaded with luxury amenities, and the Sport Advanced Package and Sport Prestige Package further elevate its appeal.

Exterior

At first glance, the exterior of the 2022 Genesis G70 3.3T RWD Sport Prestige exudes a classy yet edgy look reminiscent of high-end sports sedans like Mercedes. The 19-inch unique sport alloy wheels enhance its overall aesthetic appeal.

This car’s exterior design gives off a vibe similar to that of more expensive models from Mercedes or BMW. The Siberian Ice White Paint adds a touch of elegance and sophistication. Whether parked in the driveway or at a luxurious resort, this car is sure to turn heads.

Interior

The real luxury experience begins when you step inside the vehicle. The interior of the 2022 Genesis G70 3.3T RWD Sport Prestige, especially in the advanced trim, is impeccable. The sweeping lines from the exterior flow seamlessly into the interior, creating a cohesive look.

The car boasts a sizeable infotainment screen, around 10.75 inches wide. Opting for the advanced trim level provides access to ambient lighting, Nappa leather upholstery, and a comfortable driving experience even on long journeys. The Lexicon 15-speaker Premium Audio Sound System, along with Genesis acoustics, delivers impressive sound quality while keeping road noise at bay.

The interior has been upgraded significantly in terms of features, materials, and overall finish, positioning it as a strong contender in the luxury sports sedan segment.

Engine/Powertrain

Equipped with a 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission, the 2022 Genesis G70 3.3T RWD Sport Prestige produces 365HP @ 6,000 rpm and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. Despite its performance, the G70 maintains respectable fuel efficiency with 18 mpg in the city, 27 mpg on the highway, and 21 mpg combined (RWD). The Sports Mode enhances acceleration and power significantly.

Special Options/Package

The 2022 Genesis G70 3.3T RWD Sport Prestige offers a high level of quality at a relatively low price point, with the option to enhance the experience through additional packages.

My test model was equipped with the Sport Advanced Package and Sport Prestige Package, each adding around $4,000 to the overall cost. Even with these upgrades, the G70 remains a strong value proposition compared to its more expensive competitors.

Some standout features from the packages include:

  • 19-inch Sport Alloy Wheels
  • Dark Chrome Grille & Daylight Opening
  • Variable Exhaust Valve System
  • Lexicon 15-speaker Premium Audio Sound System
  • Dark Chrome Grille & Daylight Opening Trim
  • Nappa Leather Seating Surfaces
  • Sport Aluminum Trim / Alloy Pedals
  • Heads up Display and more…

Safety

The 2022 Genesis G70 3.3T RWD Sport Prestige earned the 2022 IIHS safety pick + designation. It comes equipped with advanced safety features to ensure a secure driving experience and help drivers respond effectively to potential risks.

The model I tested featured Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) and Lane Following Assist (LFA) to warn drivers of lane deviations without signaling and Forward Attention Warning (FAW) to alert distracted drivers. Additionally, the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) intervenes by applying brakes when a collision is imminent, potentially assisting with steering during a collision.

Verdict

The 2022 Genesis G70 3.3T RWD Sport Prestige stands out as a remarkable option in its class. Despite its lower price point compared to BMW and Mercedes, it offers outstanding value. The combination of luxury and sportiness places Genesis in a competitive position among its rivals.

The test model I drove had an MSRP of $51,445 with added features, while the starting price for this model is $42,100.

Overall, the 2022 Genesis G70 3.3T RWD Sport Prestige proves to be an exceptional choice for 2022, with a strong reputation and excellent value for the money.
