If you think that the auto industry has for long been a preserve of a few super players, you wouldn’t be far from the truth. However, as you populate the participants you must give thought to newcomers who have demonstrated willpower, and inventiveness, putting in enough effort to have a slice of the pie.
In any industry, that is an important development as it breathes an air of freshness through new ideas. Quite often, it ruffles feathers and changes the status quo, so much so that even the veterans can no longer rest at ease. What Tesla has done to the electric motor industry is a good demonstration of disruption.
Chinese automaker GAC Motors (Guangzhou Auto) has been around for about 10 years now. At the recently concluded Paris Motor Show, the company brought to the world what it describes as “the latest premium vehicle which features an exquisite design that combines robust power, futuristic styling, and robust safety features.”
This futuristic styling is wrapped in a number of vehicles such as the GS5’s powertrain and the Foresea Premiere which debuted at the Paris Auto Show. The Chinese market has grabbed manufacturers’ attention with Tesla planning to set up a plant down in Shanghai in 2019.
2018 has been characterized by notable occurrence although it has remained largely resilient.
