Volvo XC60 Review: It’s Actually Bigger & Better

Here is a rather conclusive statement that summurises the ongoing trend where just about any other car is growing up to an SUV. “Upward mobility. It’s not an uncommon or unworthy quest in life and it’s something that Volvo has worked tirelessly to achieve over the past few years.”

Having considerably adopted virtues such as being more stylish, more efficient, more luxurious, roomier, and better equipped than the model it replaces, the XC60 is unarguably now more competitive. Quite a number of things make the 2019 model more plausible.

Leading the pack is the addition of a front-wheel-drive Momentum version. In addition, a 12-volt outlet has been added to the cargo area, the rear doors now have power-operated child locks, and all-wheel-drive models now come standard with heated seats.

R-Design and Inscription models now features: a 14-speaker Harman/Kardon audio system, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, keyless entry, a handsfree power rear liftgate, auto-dimming rearview and side mirrors, HomeLink integration, power-folding rear-seat headrests, power-folding second-row seat, a self-parking feature with parking sensors, and heated windshield wiper blades.

The base Momentum model now comes with faux-leather upholstery, but genuine leather is an option. Heated rear seats and steering wheel are now standalone options and nappa leather seats with massage and ventilation are available on the Inscription model.

You will also fall in love with the 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system—which Volvo calls Sensus Connect—that comes as standard on the XC60 and comes with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Bluetooth connectivity and an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot powered by a 4G LTE data connection are also offered across the range.

Navigation with real-time traffic and weather updates is available on the base Momentum trim and standard on all other models. To a good extent, the Volvo XC60 has purposefully grown in all aspects.

It has a good reason to make owners feel really proud of their possession.
