The Mercedes-Benz 540K was considered one of the most innovative cars of the 1930s. With only a few remaining today, experts still praise its exceptional design and performance.

The car was equipped with a straight-8 cylinder engine that could generate 180 hp (130 kW) and reach a top speed of 110 mph (170 kilometers per hour). It featured a four-speed or optional five-speed manual gearbox and a vacuum-assisted braking system.

Customers could choose from three available versions, each offering slight variations in operation while maintaining similar features. The 540K was manufactured in Sindelfingen, Germany, by a team of around 1,500 employees who prioritized customization.

In 2018, one of these cars was valued at $15 million at an auction. Historical records show that the last two 540K roadsters were produced in 1939, with additional six-passenger convertibles made on a stretched chassis for high-ranking members of the German Nazi regime.

This era marked a time when precision engineering and customization were of utmost importance.
