The Nissan GT-R50 With Magnificent 710 Bhp To Celebrate 50th Anniversary

Auto maker Nissan in collaboration with renown design house Italdesign is hard at work creating the limited edition GT-R50. The GT-R50 is made as a dedication to the 50th anniversaries of both Nissan’s GT-R badge in 2019, and renowned design firm Italdesign in 2018. Based on the R35 GT-R, only 50 will be built.

But we dare say that the vehicle looks spectacular in more than one way and has characteristic distinguishing features from its predecessor the R35. It is longer, wider and lower to the ground than the Nismo on which it’s based, while the roofline has been lowered by 54 mm.

The car’s original features have been exaggerated and aerodynamically improved, most notably in the form of the large, adjustable rear wing. This is a limited edition car and efforts have been made to make send performance further north to level its limited status.

It possesses a 3.8-liter V6 engine producing 710 bhp and 575 pound ft. This is raised up from the 592 bhp and 481 lb ft of the standard GT-R Nismo.

Additionally, race-spec turbochargers are fitted having a larger inter-cooler system, adjustable dampers, heavy-duty crankshaft, pistons, bearings, and connecting rods. Upgraded intake and exhaust systems also help to achieve the 118 bhp boost.

Design boss Alfonso Albaisa summed it up saying, “This is a rare window in time when two big moments intersect. 50 years of Italdesign shaping the automotive world and 50 years of Nissan generating excitement through our iconic GT-R. So to celebrate this convergence of Nissan and Italdesign created this custom GT-R to mark 50 years of engineering leadership.”
