This speed test was carried out at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds located at Space Florida’s Launch and Landing Facility on May 14, 2022. The company confirmed the top speed using Racelogic’s dual VBOX GNSS system and also utilized a Life Racing GPS for additional data collection.
SSC took important steps to ensure transparency and credibility by inviting Racelogic technician Mitchell Townsend and Robert Mitchell, the owner of Apex Nuerberg, to witness the record-breaking attempt. While the SSC Tuatara fell short of hitting the coveted 300 mph mark this time, trailing by 10 mph compared to the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+, enthusiasts can anticipate more exhilarating speed runs in the future.
