With luxury SUVs becoming more popular every day and often the number one choice for people buying a new car, it is no wonder Genesis has jumped on the bandwagon. Competing with the BMW X3 and Mercedes—Bens GLC class, it is certainly up against some stiff competition in the world of motoring and high-quality vehicles.
Recently, I had the fortunate experience to test drive the 2022 Genesis GV70 3.5T AWD Sports Prestige and some of the highlights was the V-6 engine, which delivers incredible performance. Coupled with a panoramic sunroof and a 16-speaker Lexicon system that will be sure to blow your mind in terms of sound quality.
Exterior
The exterior of the 2022 Genesis GV70 3.5T AWD Sports Prestige is very similar to what you would find in many major SUVs. It comes with a luxurious design and many can even draw comparisons to the Porsche SUV. The 19-inch wheels will be great for different terrains and ensure that your vehicle is efficiently kept at a comfortable ride height.
In terms of the exterior design, the vehicle certainly stands a decent chance of competing with the BMW X3 and GLE Mercedes, while not costing you anywhere close to what these vehicles would cost. For the outside, it is standard to what you would expect from many luxury SUVs.
Interior
The real fun starts when you begin to look inside the vehicle and this is where the real luxury and fundamental improvements are. The interior of the 2022 Genesis GV70 3.5T AWD Sports Prestige is impeccable, especially when upgrading to the advanced trim. The first thing you will notice is the sweeping lines of the exterior that carries into the interior for a more cohesive look.
Aside from the sleek look, the car features an infotainment screen, which is around 10.75inches wide. Compared to the GV70 Sedan version, it has ample more legroom than you would expect. Choosing the advanced trim will also give you access to the ambient lighting on the inside, including leather upholstery for your seats. The remote self-parking system is an additional benefit.
Overall, the interior is stylish and can compare with the chief rivals. It should give you ample room and even compete with the modern-day Audis and BMWs.
Engine/Powertrain
The 2022 Genesis GV70 3.5T AWD Sports Prestige comes standard with the twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine. However, it is also available in the smaller turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder, which serves as the entry-level version of the car. The entry-level version can generate about 300HP, while the V6 gives you 375HP. The V6 sports model can do an impressive zero-to-60MPH in about 4.9-seconds.
My test version was the more impressive V6 sports version, which came with standard 8-speed automatic transmission, once you engage sports mode, it is easy to note the discernable athleticism when compared to the GV70 sedan model.
Looking at the fuel consumption of the vehicle, you will find that it can get a remarkable 25 MPG on the highway and around 19 MPG in the city. It gives the 2022 Genesis GV70 3.5T AWD Sports Prestige a combined fuel consumption of around 21 MPG regardless of where you are driving.
Special Options/Package
The 2022 Genesis GV70 3.5T AWD Sports Prestige starts at a superbly low price range, but there are a few upgrades that you can see when choosing a different package. While the standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder pack is pretty solid, the GV70 3.5T AWD Sports Prestige has everything you could think of.
Adding to that the advanced trim interior and you have a sleek design with comfortable leather seating and ambient lighting. For the Sports Prestige Package, you are looking at 21-inch alloy wheels and an electronic slip differential. Heated seating should also be the perfect addition to the cooler winter temperatures.
Safety
While the GV70 3.5T AWD Sports Prestige has not won any particular safety awards, it does come with some impressive safety features. The advanced driving assistance system is perfect for safe and convenient driving to help the driver effectively respond to any potential risks.
The model I tested had an additional two features Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) and Lane Following Assist (LFA), which sends a warning if the vehicle is deviating from the lane with no turn signal activated. The Forward Attention Warning (FAW) also recognizes if the driver is not looking ahead and sends out a warning.
Finally, the manufacturer has included Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), which automatically slams on the breaks when a collision is imminent. It also has the potential of helping the driver with the steering should they get into a collision.
Verdict
The 2022 Genesis GV70 3.5T AWD Sports Prestige is one of the newer SUVs on the market today and while it might seem like another SUV, it certainly stands out. Comparing it to the bigger brands like BMW and Audi, we see that it has some great features like indoor heating and even advanced safety features. The twin-turbocharged V6 engine will also make sure you can reach your destination in an adequate time.
With an MSRP of $52,600.00 for the entry-level version, it is by no means one of the most expensive new SUVs. However, when adding the additional two upgrade packages, you are looking at an MSRP of around $64,045.00 for the full trim advanced package.
Overall, the 2022 Genesis GV70 3.5T AWD Sports Prestige is certainly a great model for 2022 and should be found more commonly on the road in the coming months. The vehicle has an incredible reputation at the moment and we believe it will offer great value for your money.
